Welcome

Hi, I'm Jim Caralis. Thanks for coming to my website.

I'm running to bring a new kind of leadership to Medford and Malden. I only know one way to do this; be up front about my position on issues, present a clear vision for the future and continue to work towards building a better community.

Thanks,
Jim

Stories From the Trail

7/16/08

I've knocked on nearly 3,000 doors now and the fact the Medford has lost over $38 million in local aid since 2003 is on the top of everyone's mind. The momentum for change is building and folks are embracing my old-school shoe leather campaign style and my clear, direct and candid talk on the issues.

Quotes From Jim On the Trail

On Change
“You don’t change after you go to Beacon Hill, change starts with the candidate and the campaign”

“Sending the same people to Beacon Hill and running the same old campaigns will get us the same results. ”

On Local Aid
“Local aid is down while tax revenues are up. We are paying more and getting less. It doesn’t add up. The current mindset on Beacon Hill isn’t working…”

On Door Knocking
"Yes, I can get that cat back in the house for you, sorry."

"No, I'm not selling vacuum cleaners!"

On the Campaign:
“Being upfront about my positions, clear about my priorities and going door to door to have real conversations about the issues is how we are changing the dynamics of this campaign and how we are going to win”

On OpenMass.org
I saw there was no way to track important issues through the legislature so I founded a non-profit organization (OpenMass.org) to change that
