Taxes

As a taxpayer and a business owner I believe as a general rule that first and foremost we must work to improve efficiency and look for savings within government before asking more from taxpayers. That being said I will never sign a no tax pledge, but work to find the right balance of government efficiency, services and taxes.

Corporate Taxes

I support the tightening of the corporate tax code in conjunction with lowering corporate tax rates.

Results:

  • Projected to add over $200 million to state reveunue.

  • Forces the 2,000 to 3,000 largest corporations in Massachusetts to pay a more fair share.

  • Provides a tax break for over 10,000 smaller businesses.
Income Tax Repeal Ballot Question

I oppose the repeal of state income taxes.

New Ideas

  • I have proposed that all "Tax Holiday" money be directed to Veterans and their families when we are in a time of war. It's the least we can do to support our troops.

  • A tax or fee on advertising for casino gambling in Massachusetts as a means of recovering money lost to Connecticut - similar legislation has been proposed in New York.
