Charlie never caught hold, and I was disappointed in how little we did to get it out there. Go-to-market is just as important as the product, if not more important, and that is where I failed on Charlie. At Made In Motion, getting the product in front of customers gets the same attention as building it.
Blade ran internal ideas as mini-startups, and I led the cross-functional teams that rapidly iterated on them.
The main one was Charlie, a financial services product built to align your spending with your values. The idea was captured by a line from James W. Frick: "Don't tell me where your priorities are. Show me where you spend your money and I'll tell you what they are." I owned product conception through implementation and assembled the UX, mobile engineering, and data science teams behind it.
