My Take
Apple is late to coding assistants but right on the privacy positioning — and that matters more than feature parity for regulated industries, defense work, and IP-sensitive shops. The deeper play is establishing on-device AI as the default for productivity tasks, which weakens cloud AI revenue models for everyone except Apple. Expect Microsoft to respond with on-device Copilot variants for Surface and pressure on OpenAI to license model weights for local execution. The cloud-only AI thesis is fraying.
