Claude Mythos Finds 271 Zero-Day Vulnerabilities in Firefox
What Happened
Anthropic's Claude Mythos vulnerability-finding system, deployed against Firefox in partnership with Mozilla, identified 271 zero-day vulnerabilities. All fixes shipped in Firefox 150. Bruce Schneier and co-authors framed the result as a turning point for cyber defenders, contingent on the ability to patch and deploy quickly across the long tail of devices.
My Take
This is a bigger deal than the AI doctor story, and it gets less attention because security never trends. We just crossed the line where AI-assisted defense outpaces AI-assisted offense for any system that can patch fast — but that excludes industrial control systems, medical devices, and most IoT. The next two years will see a widening security gap between cloud-native software (safer than ever) and embedded systems (sitting ducks). Insurance premiums will reflect that gap before regulation does.
