ICE Confirms Use of Israeli Graphite Spyware

Bruce Schneier flagged that ICE confirmed operational use of Graphite, a commercial spyware product developed by Israel-based Paragon Solutions. Graphite joins NSO's Pegasus and similar tools in the expanding commercial surveillance market that U.S. federal agencies now buy rather than build. The disclosure raises fresh civil liberties and Fourth Amendment questions.

The enterprise angle nobody is discussing: every company's BYOD mobile security model assumes nation-state spyware is rare and targeted. Graphite going mainstream inside U.S. agencies means executive mobile devices are now realistically exposed to compromise via the same tools, legal or not. If you're a CISO, stop treating mobile as a consumer concern — executives and board members need hardware-isolated devices for sensitive communication. Expect a mobile-security procurement cycle in Q3 that nobody has budgeted for.
