Microsoft Israel Chief Out After Azure/Defense Ministry Probe
What Happened
Globes reports that Microsoft Israel's GM and other executives departed following an internal review into alleged improper usage of Azure services by Israel's Ministry of Defense. The departures follow months of internal employee protest and external pressure over Microsoft's defense customer relationships.
My Take
This is the new shape of vendor risk: your cloud provider can lose your account because of who else is on the cloud. Employee activism plus journalist scrutiny plus AI's defense-tech overlap has turned hyperscaler customer lists into political liabilities. If you're a CIO at a multinational, your sovereign-cloud and exit-clause conversations just got more urgent. The era of "Azure/AWS is infrastructure, infrastructure is neutral" is closing fast.
