Perplexity Launches Finance Pro Tier for $200/Month
What Happened
The $200/month tier includes live market data from partners, AI-generated earnings call summaries within minutes of release, cross-filing search across 30 years of SEC data, and an API for integrating into existing workflows. Perplexity said 40 hedge funds signed on during the private beta.
My Take
Bloomberg Terminal costs $30,000 a year and its moat has always been data plus workflow plus community. Perplexity is attacking the data-plus-analysis layer at 1% of the price, which won't displace Bloomberg but will absolutely eat the junior-analyst research layer inside every mid-sized fund. Expect Bloomberg to respond with its own agent layer within six months, and expect consolidation in the financial research SaaS category by year-end.
