Trending on X: Cursor Closes In on $2B Raise at $50B+ Valuation
What Happened
Cursor is in advanced talks to raise approximately $2 billion at a pre-money valuation above $50 billion, co-led by Andreessen Horowitz with Nvidia and Thrive Capital participating. The company hit $2B in annualized revenue in February and projects $6B ARR by year-end. Its November Series D valued it at $29.3 billion.
My Take
Cursor's valuation has roughly doubled in five months, which tells you venture capital has stopped pricing AI coding tools like software companies and started pricing them like labor arbitrage. If Cursor replaces even 10% of a $500B developer wage pool, $50B is cheap. The real question is durability — Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google all sell the underlying model, and each now ships their own coding agent. Cursor needs a product moat fast, and "great UI" won't hold the line.
